Time Out Chicago puts 40 acres of u pick apples at this Hobart, Indiana orchard about an hour from the city, with a corn maze, goats to feed and pumpkins from October. Fresh baked doughnuts, bread, pies and cookies are all made available on site, so nobody has to leave to eat. Order doughnuts with a bag of u pick apples. Time Out says the orchard opened for the season on September 2 and keeps hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Keller’s Farmstand · Oswego
Time Out Chicago notes that Keller's runs two suburban locations and that only the Oswego orchard lets guests pick apples off the trees, with Ruby Mac, EverCrisp and Golden Supreme coming in through the season. The farmstand sells apple cider donuts and pumpkin scones, and weekends add a 12 acre corn maze, wagon rides and a kids play area. Order the apple cider donuts. Time Out gives hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends through late October.
