Spiral Diner & Bakery · Near Southside, Fort Worth
Amy McNutt opened this Fort Worth diner in 2002, back when it was the only fully vegan restaurant in town, and it has earned VegNews' restaurant of the year honors. The menu leans into vegan Tex-Mex diner classics, loaded nachos, veggie burgers, chili, and burritos, built to feel like comfort food rather than a health-food substitute.
Reverie Bakeshop · Richardson
Former cake decorators Nancy Castillo and Racene Mendoza launched this all-vegan bakery, baking cupcakes, doughnuts, Danish pastries, and croissants that are largely gluten-free too. It pours coffee from Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters alongside a short lunch panini menu, and it relocated within Richardson to a new North Coit Road space in 2026.
Beyond The Bun · Lewisville
Danielle and Mason Strokes run this take-out counter inside a Lewisville antique mall, turning out fully plant-based versions of deli classics like roast beef, buffalo chicken, and a BLTA. Customers order at a self-serve kiosk and browse the antiques while they wait, a small, unglamorous setup that has earned a devoted following.
Cosmic Cafe · Oak Lawn, Dallas
Opened in 1992 by actor Kumar Pallana and carried on for decades by Praveen Sachdev, this Oak Lawn cottage-turned-restaurant closed in 2021 and reopened in March 2026 under longtime chef Deepak Chalise. The vegetarian, Indian-influenced menu, heavy on vegan lentil dishes, curries, and samosas, is built for flavor over health messaging in a bohemian little house.
