Southern Grist - East Nashville
Southern Grist runs two East Nashville-area taprooms known for small-batch, frequently rotating brews. The Cobbler, a lactose-fruited sour, and the Upside Down Cake milkshake IPA series are recurring favorites, alongside a well-regarded fruited gose. The East Nashville location also houses Lauter, an in-house restaurant.
Jackalope Brewing Co. · Wedgewood-Houston
Jackalope brews unfiltered, fruit-forward beers out of a vividly painted Wedgewood-Houston taproom, with the strawberry-raspberry Lovebird wheat beer as its signature pour. Weekly trivia, live music, and rotating food trucks keep the space busy beyond just drinking, and it was among the first breweries to open in the neighborhood.
Smith & Lentz Brewing and Pizza · East Nashville
This East Nashville brewery pairs its beer program, including the Pizza Palace Pilsner, with pepperoni pizzas finished in hot honey. The back patio is one of the more relaxed hangout spots among the neighborhood's cluster of breweries, where regulars settle in on warm afternoons.
Yazoo Brewing Company · Madison
Yazoo is one of Nashville's longest-running craft breweries, known for flagship pours like Pale Yale and a barrel-aging program called Embrace the Funk that rotates taproom-exclusive sours through the year. It took the Nashville Scene readers' poll for local brewery in 2023, ahead of Bearded Iris and Southern Grist.
