Mighty Donuts is Yericka Estrada's Puerto Rico-inspired mini-donut shop in Hamden, covered by the New Haven Arts Paper and Hamden Patch. The donuts are fried to order, small and still warm, finished with powdered or cinnamon sugar and toppings from Nutella to cookie crumbs, and the signature is a guava-and-cream-cheese donut that nods to Estrada's home in Vega Alta. There is fresh-squeezed lemonade to go alongside. Order the guava-and-cream-cheese minis warm from the fryer.

Glaze | Grind opened in the former Donut Crazy storefront on York Street near Yale, a spinoff from the Goldberg's bagel family that the Yale Herald reviewed. Beyond the Goldberg's bagels it borrows, the draw is the donuts: the Yale Herald singled out a Fruity Pebbles donut, cereal-topped with a white-icing drizzle over soft, airy dough. Order the Fruity Pebbles donut with a coffee, and grab one of the original Goldberg's bagels while you are there.
