Milwaukee Magazine dates the garden here to 2012 and calls it the first public beer garden in the country since Prohibition, the one dozens of others in the area followed. The theme is German throughout, with Hofbrau on tap and patrons eating sausages and pretzels at a spread of communal tables on a bluff above a waterfall on the Milwaukee River. It runs cashless, so bring a card. The magazine lists noon to 9 p.m. daily and noon to 10 p.m. Friday, in a public garden season that runs roughly May into October. Order a Hofbrau and a sausage.
