Mike Lata opened FIG on Meeting Street in 2003, and it is widely credited with setting Charleston's modern restaurant era in motion. The seasonal menu changes constantly around Lowcountry ingredients, with the chicken-liver pate and ricotta gnocchi as longtime anchors. Lata won the James Beard Best Chef Southeast award in 2009, and the restaurant took Outstanding Wine Program in 2018. The MICHELIN Guide listed it as Recommended in 2025.
