The albondigas carries carrots, squash and mint-flecked meatballs of sirloin, thickened with rice instead of bread, from her mother's recipe. The pozole verde gets acid from tomatillos, a kick from green peppers and a mellow pepperiness from epazote, with hominy she nixtamalizes in-house.
