Frank Sarris started making chocolate in the basement of a Washington County house in 1960, and Pittsburgh Magazine reports the Canonsburg operation now turns out about 50,000 pounds a day at peak holiday season. The retail store carries handmade chocolate and classic penny candy, and the room is built around a 1,500 pound chocolate castle with chocolate waterfalls. Order the chocolate bunnies and the egg shaped meltaways in spring, then stop at the retro ice cream parlor on the way out.
