St. Louis Magazine says the wings stand out even in a kitchen the guide calls turbocharged with the flavors of Cajun cuisine. They come dry rubbed and then either smoked or split and fried, and the finish, in the guide's word, is a sparkle of hoisin. Order them at the start of a table on South Broadway, before the Cajun plates arrive and take over the rest of the meal.

Louisiana native Travis Parfait and restaurant veteran Pamela Melton link the Gateway City to the Crescent City with a menu that sets barbecue beside New Orleans comfort cooking. St. Louis Magazine points to the partly covered back patio, which spills onto a large fenced greenspace, as the bonus here. St. Louis Magazine calls Sister Cities the gold standard of Cajun cooking in St. Louis since 2013, and credits owner Travis Parfait's upbringing in Louisiana's Mississippi delta. The guide says his seafood gumbo is as classic as it gets, a dark roux base packed with shrimp, crawfish and catfish.
