The Independent is a roomy, bright downtown sports bar and a popular spot for the downtown workers crowd, always airing some kind of game on more than 30 screens arrayed through the room, so nobody has to crane a neck. Football rules here, with basketball a close second. The food is classic American sports bar, burgers, nachos, wings, chicken tenders, hot dogs and something called Manchos, with a sizable tap list of local brews and domestic beers.
