The Soup Girl, just up Whitney Avenue in Hamden, is a business dedicated to soup, with four hot offerings each day drawn from a rotating menu of more than 100. Owner Jessica Hazan makes traditional recipes like chicken noodle, chicken tortellini and chicken lemon orzo, and on occasion kicks it up with a spicy Buffalo chicken soup, with chunks of celery and blue cheese worked into the broth, or a chicken penne alla vodka soup in a creamy tomato broth. Order whatever is hot that day, or the Buffalo chicken soup when it is on.
