San Francisco Chronicle. The only East Bay winery on the Chronicle's 2025 Top 25. Winemaker Chris Brockway ferments on site in a Fifth Street warehouse, nearly 20 years in; neon-pink roses and translucent, ruby-hued reds.
Donkey & Goat Winery · West Berkeley, Berkeley
San Francisco Chronicle. Berkeley's first natural winery, making low-intervention wine in a warehouse in the city's concrete-and-steel wine district, with a tasting bar on the edge of the production space. Worth noting is an unusual, textural white blend based on the lesser-known grape Clairette.
Covenant Wines · West Berkeley, Berkeley
San Francisco Chronicle. The Bay Area's only kosher winery, pressing and barrel-fermenting in a Berkeley warehouse where the cellar is gated off from the tasting room to keep kosher rules. Tasting requires an appointment.
Dashe Cellars · Alameda Point, Alameda
San Francisco Chronicle. A long-running East Bay winery making restrained, light-bodied Zinfandel in a former airplane hangar at Alameda Point, shared with Urban Legend winery. A tasting bar sits near the entrance, surrounded by tanks, barrels and oak casks.
