Mercado - Edge District
At this St. Petersburg counter, the pork tamale is steamed and served with red chile. The restaurant also makes its tortillas on site. The original EDGE District location still offers pork and chicken tamales, with the red chile pork version on its current ordering menu.
Ranchero Tacos · Seminole Heights
This North Florida Avenue stand makes its tortillas to order and offers tamales as a weekend special. The same counter serves slow-cooked carnitas and al pastor with pineapple charred on the flat top. Look for the tamales when the weekend batch is available.
Chile Verde · St. Petersburg
The original 22nd Avenue restaurant occupies a converted gas station with two large horse figures outside. Tamales share its hot-food menu with flautas, burritos and tacos.
