Housed in a historic Midtown firehouse, this Jamaican kitchen blends Southern hospitality with dishes like bammie cassava flatbread and escoveitch whole fried snapper. Jerk wings and oxtail with peas and rice round out a menu built for both newcomers and regulars.

A no-frills, counter-service spot on Candler Road in Decatur that the AJC critic singled out for brown-stew chicken, curry goat, and oxtail over rice and peas. The $7.99 lunch special, with a choice of fried, jerked, stewed, or curried chicken and two sides, is the easiest way in.
