Chef-owner Jim Guarino has run this University District Cajun kitchen, Shango New Orleans Bistro and Wine Bar, since 2005. Step Out Buffalo calls it home-style New Orleans cooking, plenty of seafood and plenty of Southern, and singles out the gumbo's dark rich roux, pan-seared pork belly and Creole bouillabaisse. Order the gumbo and the fried chicken with cheddar grits.
