Diego is primarily a seafood spot, but The Infatuation's burrito guide argues some of the best food here is meat based, and offers the Cali style steak burrito as the case in point, calling it excellent and its fries crispy and golden. That is the order. Cali style puts the fries inside the tortilla with the steak, so the burrito carries a whole plate's worth of texture rather than going soft in the middle.
Martinez Mexican Bar & Grill · Bridgeport
Despite the name, The Infatuation writes, the Baby Burrito from this market, restaurant and bar hybrid in Bridgeport is absolutely massive, with one half nearly as big as the average human face. Order the Baby Burrito at the counter inside the grocery on Morgan Street. Bring someone to split it with unless you have skipped a meal, and note that the same room pours drinks if you want one alongside.
Xocome Antojeria · Archer Heights
The Infatuation says it does not yet have a guide to the best steak bits in Chicago, but when it does, the asada from this Archer Heights kitchen will be on it, and in the meantime it recommends the huge carne asada burrito. Order that. Xocome works in the antojeria tradition, so if you are with someone add a plate from the rest of the griddle menu to go with the burrito.
Gordillas · Little Village
Gordillas is a small local chain known for its gorditas and tacos, and The Infatuation notes the tacos come with no toppings by default. The burrito is the other reason to stop: the guide describes a large carne asada version with a generous amount of avocado, cheese and steak pieces. Order the large carne asada burrito at the 26th Street location in Little Village, which is the one the guide names.

The Infatuation's burrito guide points out that this Lincoln Park counter sits next to a Mobil station and is a burrito destination on its own terms. The guide credits the ratio of meat, rice, beans, pico and sour cream for a balance of salty, tangy, smoky and acidic flavors, all held in a crisp griddle pressed tortilla. Order the al pastor or the smoky asada, which are the two meats the guide singles out, and add the housemade salsa.
