Yia Yia's House Of Gyros Mesquite
Owner Vasili Bill Kaprantzas built this family-owned mini-chain around oversized gyro wraps served with steak fries, alongside lamb souvlaki and pastitsio. The original Mesquite dining room carries homemade touches tied to his Greek heritage, including a photo of his grandmother. It earned Dallas Observer readers' recognition for Greek cooking in 2016 and Mediterranean in 2021.
Stratos · Northwest Dallas
This Northwest Dallas taverna sears its gyro meat until deeply flavored, then wraps it in a pita with crisp, freshly grilled edges and tzatziki spread onto the sandwich. A Dallas Observer taste test called it warm, crisp, and tangy, if a touch salty by the last bite, and it remains one of the city's longest-running Greek kitchens near Love Field.
Greek Isles Grill & Taverna · Plano
The kitchen grills the pita in olive oil until golden and fries the sides in an olive oil blend for extra richness. The gyro meat comes tender and juicy with a light hand on the salt, and the tzatziki is fresh. In a head-to-head Dallas Observer taste test against Stratos, its gyro platter came out ahead.
