Shahar · Shelby Park
An all vegan cafe on Logan Street, named in LEO Weekly's guide to Louisville vegan restaurants. The cheeseburger and the crispy chicky sando are the reasons people drive over, and neither is apologizing for being plant based. Shelby Park is the operating brick and mortar now; the old Bardstown Road listing has closed.
Heart and Soy / Roots · Highlands
Pan Asian plant cooking on Bardstown Road, and one of the rooms LEO Weekly lists in its vegan guide. Tofu is made in house, which is not a small thing, and it turns up across the noodle bowls and small plates. Two concepts share the address, one casual and one a little more composed, with the same kitchen behind both.
In Season Harvest Kitchen · Downtown
Seasonal bowls, salads and smoothies on West Main Street, listed in LEO Weekly's vegan guide. Breakfast is the underrated meal here, hearty enough that it never reads as a compromise, and the lunch bowls move fast with the downtown crowd. Plants, cooked with intent, in a room built for a weekday rather than an occasion.
Naive Latin Inspired Kitchen + Bar · Butchertown
Plant forward Latin cooking in a Butchertown corner room, drawing on Mexico, Cuba and Peru, and named in LEO Weekly's vegan guide. New ownership has pushed the menu further toward the Latin end without losing the vegetable first thesis the room was built on. Bright, tiled, and a genuinely pleasant place to sit for a while.
Half-Peach Bakery & Cafe · St. Matthews
An all vegan bakery and cafe off Sears Avenue that LEO Weekly includes in its vegan guide. The menu runs through international plant based comfort food with oil free options for anyone who needs them, and the bakery case is the reason to arrive early. Open Tuesday through Saturday, afternoons into the evening.
