San Diego Magazine's 2025 Critic's pick for Mediterranean, a small El Cajon Boulevard strip-mall bakery that George Salameh opened after being laid off from a car dealership. Born in Lebanon, he could not find za'atar he liked here, so he went back to the old country for it and shipped 3,000 pounds over. Order the za'atar flatbread, the traditional man'ousheh the shop was built around, then whatever else the counter is running, since the rest of the menu grew out of customers asking for the dishes they remembered.
