Asmeret Teklu has run this Eritrean and Ethiopian kitchen on Oak Street since 2004, and the Press Herald counts it among the longest-running Black-owned restaurants in Portland. Teklu grew up in Eritrea and moved to Maine in 1988. Every vegetarian dish on her menu is vegan, and she told the paper she sells more vegetarian plates than meat ones these days.
