Owner Sam Hazza soaks garbanzo beans overnight, toasts and grinds coriander, and cultures yogurt for the falafel at Cedo's. Gyros and hummus, finished with paprika and olive oil, round out the menu at the narrow Northeast Martin Luther King Boulevard counter. Order the falafel in a rolled pita or try a gyro.

A narrow, perpetually busy counter on Northeast Martin Luther King Boulevard with a cult following. Willamette Week's Cheap Eats guide joked that if you live or work in Northeast Portland there is a nine-in-ten chance you will see someone you know in the lunch line, and found the gyro sandwich full of perfectly spiced meat. The Jerusalem-style falafel, packed with tabbouleh and hot sauce, is the other signature. Order the gyro or a falafel plate with warm pita.
