This West Haven kitchen brings Syrian and broader Levantine dishes to the Post Road. A reported visit found a fattoush of fresh vegetables and fried pita in sumac dressing, plus a sampler of hummus, eggplant dips and muhammara. The falafel pizza brought crisp falafel, vegetables, mint, tahini and lemon together on a warm crust. Order the falafel pizza with hummus and mutabal to share.

Syrian and Damascene cooking in West Haven from chef Malaz Hayak, Cordon Bleu-trained and shaped by a father who ran a restaurant in Damascus. CTbites (Jessica Ryan) recommends starting with the Dama Mix, a spread of hummus, mutabal, muhammara, and baba ghanoush, then the arayes (griddled meat-stuffed pita) and chicken shawarma, with knafeh to close. Opened in September 2024, it sits just over the New Haven line, well inside the metro.
