Portland Monthly says this Sauvie Island farm claims to be Portland's original pumpkin patch and still keeps some of its first structures, including a bright red barn built in 1929. Walk to the field or take the two dollar hayride, and on weekends ride the cow train instead. There are animals to meet, a corn maze, and antique tractors to look at. The cafe pours beer and pumpkin spice cider. Order the apple cider doughnuts, which the magazine says the farm serves on weekends alongside caramel apples and hand dipped corn dogs.
Bauman's Farm and Garden · Gervais
The Portland Mercury calls the apple cider donuts here famous and pairs them with fresh pressed cider poured on weekends only. Portland Monthly puts Bauman's at the center of a Mid Valley day between Salem and Gervais, with a harvest festival that runs from September 20 through October 30 and holds a petting zoo, corn maze, apple cannon and giant hay slide, plus Bauman's own ciders on tap for the 21 and over crowd.
