Memere's · Downtown Providence
A French-Canadian-accented bistro from chef Mike Lester, set inside Hotel Neptune on Fountain Street, in a space that used to be The Dean. Rhode Island Monthly's June 2026 review describes it as a warm enclave that keeps the city at a distance, conjuring a vintage, romantic version of Parisian culture. Motif's own opened-and-closed column separately confirms it opened in March 2026.
Claudine · Downtown
A small tasting-menu French restaurant on Weybosset Street from chefs Maggie McConnell and Josh Finger, who cooked together at Per Se and The French Laundry before striking out on their own. The Boston Globe tracked the project as it came together, and Rhode Island Monthly's December 2025 review picks up the story once the doors were open. This category runs thin in the metro, French bistros have a genuinely hard time surviving here, but Claudine is a serious exception.
