Chez Nibs · Central City
A chocolate and confection shop from baker Romina Rasmussen, named for her rescue cat, where artisan bonbons are made on site and line a jewelry-case display. The flavors run from classics to ones that carry her six years in Asia, such as mandarin, coffee cardamom, black sesame and passion fruit, and a few favorites from her former bakery, Les Madeleines, the kouign amann among them, still turn up in the case. Order a box of the bonbons.
Hatch Family Chocolates · Avenues
An Avenues chocolate shop owned by Katie Masterson and Steve Hatch that is famous for its hot chocolate, made with Guittard milk and dark chocolate, steamed milk and heavy whipping cream, with a frozen version blended with crushed ice and vanilla ice cream on the menu year round. Truffles are there to order on the side. Order a hot chocolate with a truffle or two.
Mrs. Cavanaugh's Chocolates and Ice Cream · North Salt Lake
The North Salt Lake factory store of a chocolate maker that began in 1964, when Marie Cavanaugh made chocolates for a church fundraiser in South Dakota, and that opened its first Utah store in Bountiful in 1972. The chocolates are made at this factory, and tours start from the shop. Order a box of the chocolates and a few caramels.
Cummings Studio Chocolates · Central City
An old-school chocolatier on 900 South, more chocolate shop than restaurant, whose chocolate-dipped strawberries are made for carrying across the street into Liberty Park. Order the chocolate-dipped strawberries.
Sir Walter Candy Co. · South Salt Lake
Sir Walter Candy Co. pairs a working candy factory with a pastel-colored retail shop in South Salt Lake. Chocolate and caramel-covered pretzels are among the treats on display, and the room is designed as a place to sit with dessert as well as take candy home. Order a chocolate-covered pretzel and browse the counter for a box to share.
