Crown Burgers · Downtown
Salt Lake Magazine traces the Utah pastrami burger to Crown Burgers' founder Manuel Katsanevas, who learned the pairing from his late brother James after James picked it up in California. The magazine says the result is now served at almost every Greek-founded burger spot in the valley, each under its own name, and that at Crown it is the Crown Burger. Order that: paprika-spicy pastrami melded with a smoky char-grilled patty, at the 200 South counter.
B&D Burger · East Central
Salt Lake Magazine calls B&D's the place to go to find out what a real Utah burger tastes like, and lists this 1300 East address first among its two. The magazine's field guide groups it with Apollo and Olympus as the not-so-mythically named children of Salt Lake's Greek immigrants. Order the pastrami burger, piled with pastrami and Swiss, which the magazine's writer kept as a default through college.
Apollo Burger · Rose Park
One of the mythically named burger joints Salt Lake Magazine credits to the children of Utah's Greek immigrants, and still named alongside Crown and Olympus in the magazine's 2026 lunch guide. The chain runs several valley counters; this Redwood Road shop is the Salt Lake City one. Order the Apollo Burger, which is what the house calls its own version of the pastrami burger.
Olympus Burger · Murray
Grouped by Salt Lake Magazine with Apollo and Crown as the Greek-founded stands carrying the pastrami burger across the valley, and named again in the magazine's 2026 handheld-eats guide, which sets the four of them against each other and then declines to pick. This Murray counter on 900 East is the closer of the chain's two valley shops to the city. Order the Olympus Burger, which is the house name for the pastrami-and-patty build.
Lucky 13 · Ballpark
The Ballpark bar is the outlier on this list, not a Greek-family stand but a kitchen that smokes its own pastrami. Salt Lake Magazine's burger tour says Lucky 13 knows what it is doing with the style and warns that it may spoil other burgers for you. Order the Smoked Pastrami and Swiss: a beef patty under hickory-smoked pastrami and melted Swiss.
