He watched the food move out fast as guests who had lined up outside filed in, with Marcia making her usual rounds to thank every table and ask where people were visiting from. Get in line early, sit at a shared table, and take the fried chicken first.

Connect Savannah's Tim Rutherford walked in hungry and found a steam table covered with all kinds of vegetables and starches, every member of the barnyard represented on the meats menu, and portions he said could never be deemed moderate. An earlier column of his described a line to the door on Skidaway Road and a steam table ripe with hot, fresh choices. Order a meat and two, and come at lunch when turnover is fastest.

Eat It and Like It reported this Starland District room being named to Bon Appetit's 24 Best New Restaurants for 2023, singling out the Whole Chicken Dinner as one of Savannah's most talked about dishes that year. An earlier piece listed that dinner as fried thighs, charred breast, chicken salad, chamomile spice, sunchoke hot sauce, biscuits and pickles. Book ahead and order it; the oysters and the pies by the slice also drew notice.
