Cory and Karen King's Maplewood brewery is known for oak-aged beer, especially wild ales. Side Project appeared in a top-ten American breweries of the 2010s list. The business has three Maplewood locations.

4 Hands collaborates with St. Louis companies and artists on beers and hosts festivals. Its locations have restaurant partners. At the South Eighth Street taproom, try City Wide, Incarnation or Chocolate Milk Stout.

Perennial brews Belgian-style ales, imperial stouts, Berliner Weisses and barrel-aged beers, often with local ingredients. Its South City location has a taproom and patio; the Webster Groves location shares a building with Olive + Oak. Try Abraxas, Saison de Lis or Sump Coffee Stout.

Jake Hafner opened Civil Life in Tower Grove South after running 33 Wine Bar in Lafayette Square. The brewery began canning its American Brown Ale and expanded in 2018. Try the American Brown at the pub.

Urban Chestnut splits its beers between a Revolution series of modern American styles and a Reverence series of European styles. Try Zwickle, Schnickelfritz, Okatz or Fantasyland at its Midtown or Grove location.
