Gannons Isle Ice Cream · Valley
A Valley institution since 1982, Gannon's Isle is known for homemade hard ice cream and a rotating list of more than 200 flavors. baked magazine's Syracuse ice-cream bucket list points to its Cuse Trax, a mix of vanilla, fudge swirl and mini peanut butter cups, and a Chocolate Bavarian Torte flavor. The family has run it for decades. Order a Cuse Trax, or the Fruit and Berry Twist of black raspberry and orange sherbet.
Sno Top · Manlius
Sno Top opened in Manlius in 1957, built in the style of an old Dairy Queen stand, and it still runs under the Penizotto family. baked magazine's bucket list and two Daily Orange ice-cream roundups all name it, pointing to Dole whip and flurries blended with candy. It is a seasonal roadside stand east of the city. Order a Dole whip or a candy flurry.
Fifi's Ice Cream & Sweets · Eastwood
An Eastwood shop on James Street stocking more than 70 hard Perry's flavors alongside frozen yogurt, soft serve and a wall of 30-plus toppings for build-your-own sundaes. This Is CNY's Colette Goldstein pointed to the sheer variety as the draw, describing it as a scoop, sip and spoonful for every Syracuse sweet tooth. Order a hard-scoop cone in a flavor you will not find elsewhere, or build a sundae from the topping bar.
