Beak & Skiff Cider Mill · LaFayette
An orchard in the hills of LaFayette that Andrew Beak and George Skiff started in 1911 and their families still run. About twenty varieties come off the trees for picking, Honeycrisp and Snapdragon among them, and the cafe on the Apple Hill campus sells cider doughnuts through the season. The 1911 Established tasting room pours ciders, spirits and wine. Hours run 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and to 8 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Order cider doughnuts and an apple fritter.
Navarino Orchard · Onondaga
A Cherry Valley Turnpike orchard run by Vinny Sicignano, a short drive from Beak and Skiff, with a restaurant attached to the farm store. Sicignano told CNY Central the cider donuts were fried that morning and that the apple pies have been made the same way for close to thirty years. newyorkupstate.com calls the doughnuts pillowy soft and says to eat one while waiting for the apple fritters. Critz Farms and Critz Farms Brewing & Cider Co. · Cazenovia
A Cazenovia farm where Matthew Critz runs a Fall Harvest Celebration on weekends from mid September into late October. The Rome Sentinel lists cider donuts alongside fresh cider and cider making demonstrations, an eight acre corn maze, hayrides, a cow train and pick your own apples and pumpkins. The farm keeps daily hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the tap room pours its own beer and hard cider. Spectrum News counts it among the state's pick your own orchards. Tim's Pumpkin Patch · Marietta
A Marietta farm known first for its pumpkin fields, with a bakery that turns out cider doughnuts, cider slushies, cider floats and apple pie nachos through the harvest season. The farm and the bakery keep daily hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through September and October, which is the whole season.
