Tiny Pies bakes pies the size of cupcakes at this Burnet Road shop, in flavors like peanut butter chocolate cream, salted caramel apple, cinnamon swirl cheesecake and sweet Texas pecan, most of them topped with house-made whipped cream and tasting as if they had just finished cooling. Full-size pies can be ordered too, and a few slightly larger savory pies make a lunch. Order a sweet Texas pecan, then the five-inch spicy king ranch pot pie with chicken, cheddar jack and chiles.

Quack's is a Hyde Park bakery and coffeehouse that keeps pie in the bakery case and takes orders for whole pies. The lineup runs to a key lime tart, apple cinnamon, cherry, pecan, chocolate pecan, pumpkin and a chocolate cream pie that makes a change from pumpkin. Order a slice of the key lime tart, and take home the chocolate cream.

Lucy's is a fried chicken restaurant with several locations; this entry is the College Avenue room. Pie is the dessert here, sold by the slice: a s'mores pie of chocolate and house-made marshmallow in a graham cracker crust, and a lime pie, a lime custard on graham cracker that gives a tart finish after the fried chicken.
