Basil Park Circle · Park Circle, North Charleston
Charleston City Paper's Robert F. Moss reviewed Henry and Chai Eang's Thai kitchen and called the basil rolls the tastiest appetizers, hands down, on a menu of Thai classics with a few Chinese standards thrown in. Mary Scott Hardaway reported this Park Circle room taking over the former Lotus space on East Montague in 2019, and Parker Milner confirmed in 2021 that Park Circle and Mount Pleasant both stayed open when the King Street original closed.
Ti-Ney Bangkok Folly · James Island
Ti-Ney Bangkok opened on James Island in the former Zeppelin Pizza space, run by owners born and raised in Bangkok. The menu covers curry poppers, pad see ew and roasted duck over ginger rice, in a strip center shared with Garage 75 and Ladles Soups.
Taste of Thai · West Ashley
Charleston City Paper's Jeff Allen reviewed this Thai and Vietnamese kitchen at 874 Orleans Road in West Ashley, an inexpensive room serving lunch and dinner daily, and wrote that you do not always expect to find cooking this good within spitting distance of a shopping mall. He read the room as the start of a trend rather than an outlier. Come at lunch, and order across both halves of the menu.
