Abugida Ethiopian Cafe & Restaurant · Plaza Midwood
A brother-and-sister kitchen at 3007 Central Avenue where the meat and vegetarian feast platters arrive spread across injera and everybody at the table eats with their hands. Gomen, red lentil wat and tibs cover the spread, and coffee is poured from a jebena at the end if you have the time to sit for it.
Enat Ethiopian Restaurant · East Charlotte
Chef and owner Tina Tedla named the place for the Amharic word for mother and cooks from her mother's recipes. Lentil sambusas, doro wat and kitfo come off a menu built on house-ground berbere, with injera made fresh daily, and she has run it long enough now to open a second counter at Optimist Hall.
