Miami-born Kristy Socarras Bigelow opened Cuba Cuba in 2001 inside a pair of conjoined Victorian houses in the Golden Triangle. Ropa vieja, empanadas, and vaca frita have anchored the menu for more than two decades at this family-owned Cuban restaurant and rum bar with a shaded patio.

Orlando Colombe, who ran three Cuban bakeries in Miami, opened this bright Aurora strip-mall spot on East Mississippi in 2013. The often-packed cafe bakes Cuban pastries and builds sandwiches like the traditional Cubano and pan con lechon around mojo-marinated pork.
