Press picks, until locals rank their own Top 5s. Sourced from the local food press. As seen in LEO Weekly. Updated July 2026.

Ramen House · Irish Hill
LEO Weekly readers put it first in the 2024 Readers' Choice ramen category, and the shop has since left Mid City Mall for a South Spring Street room in Irish Hill. Bowls arrive with a firm noodle and a broth that has had time to sit, and the handmade gyoza and steamed buns are worth ordering alongside them.
Kiwami Ramen · Highlands
Long simmered pork broths in the old Cafe Metro space on Bardstown Road. LEO Weekly went early and came back for the kiwami shiro, the signature bowl, with the shio close behind it. The room is small and gets loud, the broth is rich enough that one bowl is a full meal, and the line moves faster than it looks.
Hokkaido Ramen and Sushi · South Louisville
A New Cut Road counter that LEO Weekly readers placed third in the 2024 Readers' Choice ramen category. Toppings are customizable, so the bowl comes out the way you build it, over broths that carry real weight. Sushi shares the menu for anyone at the table who did not come for noodles. Unassuming strip mall room, serious kitchen.
hiko-A-mon · Westport Village
Chef Hiko's Kyoto rooted Japanese restaurant on Herr Lane, singled out in LEO Weekly's roundup of Louisville ramen and pho for its bowls as much as for its fish. The sushi counter runs like a fish market, and the ramen gets the same attention. It sits in an East End shopping center that gives away nothing from the parking lot.
