Anko Sushi · Beechmont
LEO Weekly readers voted this West Woodlawn Avenue counter first in the 2024 Readers' Choice sushi category. It runs as close to a one man operation as a sushi bar can, which means the pace is the chef's pace and the fish gets the attention it deserves. Sit at the counter, be patient, and let him work.
Sapporo Japanese Grill & Sushi · Highlands
A Bardstown Road sushi and grill room going on more than twenty years, placed second by LEO Weekly readers in the 2024 Readers' Choice sushi category. Nigiri and rolls come off the bar while the hibachi grill handles the other half of the dining room. It has been the Highlands sushi default for a reason.
Oishii Sushi · Upper Highlands
A casual Taylorsville Road sushi house that LEO Weekly readers placed third in the 2024 Readers' Choice sushi category. Rolls carry the menu, with tempura and teriyaki for whoever at the table did not come for raw fish. Neighborhood pricing, quick service, and enough consistency that regulars order the same thing every time.
Jin Doshirak · Downtown
A Fifth Street counter LEO Weekly names among the city's newer rooms, and again in its guide to Louisville Korean restaurants. Sushi comes packed alongside Korean fare in bento style boxes, which makes it a downtown lunch order more than a sit down dinner. Fast, portable, and a good deal more interesting than the format suggests.
