Ukiyo built its ramen into a wider menu of small plates and bao buns at Bull Street and 39th in Starland. Eat It & Like It sat with chef AJ, who had drawn up a ramen shop of his own before Southern Cross Hospitality called him back, and describes a room meant either for a long evening of small plates or a quick stop after work for one bowl. Nothing on the opening menu ran over twenty dollars. Order the ramen.

Ukiyo opened in May 2022 at Bull Street and 39th in the Starland District from the group behind The Collins Quarter, The Fitzroy and The Deck, with executive chef AJ Benacquisto running an open kitchen of Japanese street food: plates, buns and ramens.
