Flying Monk Noodle Bar · Historic District
Sean and Ele Tran's Broughton Street noodle bar draws on the Chinatown districts of New York and San Francisco: chopping boards of crispy five-spice pork, ramen bowls topped with egg, edamame dumplings, pho from Ele's parents' native Vietnam, Mekong ginger rice from Laos, and a Cambodian chili-lime noodle salad. Connect Savannah reports that price points stay low, with most entrees under $12.95 even at dinner, and that the kitchen keeps late hours after a break from 3 to 5 p.m.
Ukiyo Savannah · Starland District
Ukiyo opened in May 2022 at Bull Street and 39th in the Starland District from the group behind The Collins Quarter, The Fitzroy and The Deck, with executive chef AJ Benacquisto running an open kitchen of Japanese street food: plates, buns and ramens. Eat It and Like It's opening-week visit found nothing on the menu over $20 and called the room a draw at night, and its follow-up feature sat down with the chef on the idea behind the counter.
