Ridge Donut Cafe · North Rochester
Visitors to this Portland Avenue fixture are greeted by the phrase Ahhh the good donuts, painted on the wall by local artist Shawn Dunwoody, as CITY Magazine's own write-up has it. The shop has been family-run for nearly four decades. General manager Joseph Olles told CITY that the rotating cycle of bakers the trade once ran on is gone. Go early and order a mixed dozen.
Donuts Delite · Culver-Empire
Jim Malley opened Donuts Delite at Empire and Culver in 1958, and after the landmark went dark, Salvatore Fantauzzo bought it and reopened it in 2010 at the same corner, working from the original recipes with the founder's family. 13WHAM and WROC have both covered the brand. Order the classic glazed and a few filled donuts from the Culver Road counter.

Schutt's Apple Mill in Webster is a family cider mill and country store whose fried cakes, or cider donuts, are made fresh daily from a family recipe, as CITY Magazine's fried-cakes feature describes.
