Huey's · River Street
A River Street fixture serving New Orleans cooking from breakfast through dinner. The kitchen turns out muffulettas, po boys, jambalaya and crawfish, and the beignets arrive under a heavy blanket of powdered sugar. Savannah Morning News notes the New Orleans menu is well loved locally, and a second location has since opened in Statesboro.
Alligator Soul Restaurant · Downtown
A candlelit basement dining room below Barnard Street where the cooking leans Creole and Lowcountry, built on game, seafood and produce from regional growers. Jesse Blanco wrote in the Savannah Morning News that it is one of the first places locals recommend for dinner. The kitchen has since expanded into an adjoining space called the Marsou Room.
