West Broad Bandshell · Downtown
West Broad Bandshell blends Korean and Southern cooking rather than running a conventional soul food menu. Founder Tanika Hamilton was born in Seoul, and chef Romie Cummings is Gullah Geechee, and together they serve shrimp and grits and short ribs alongside Korean corn dogs and kimchi. The restaurant sits on the old West Broad Street stretch of the historic Black business corridor, with a mural honoring bandleader King Oliver inside.
Sisters of the New South · Eastside
Sisters of the New South serves oxtails, smothered pork chops and baked chicken from a family recipe passed down for generations, on a daily service that runs until nine. Savannah Magazine's coverage described the fried chicken here as reminiscent of a grandmother's Sunday table. A second location on Abercorn Street operates alongside the original Skidaway Road address, while an earlier Mall Boulevard location has closed.
