Braeutigam Orchards · Belleville
Feast reports a Belleville farm held by the same family since 1831 and worked now by the sixth and seventh generations. The doughnuts are the draw in fall. Feast puts weekend sales at 600 to 700 dozen and says to come early Saturday or Sunday, and St. Louis Magazine's 2026 farm guides tell visitors to pick up apple cider, apple cider doughnuts and cider slushies while they are there. Order the doughnuts with a slushie. The bakery runs weekends June through October, and the farm market carries doughnuts on weekdays.
Eckert's Country Store · Belleville
The Belleville farm sells its cider doughnuts year round at Mr. E's Cider Donut & Custard Shop, which Sauce reports opened in June 2022 in a repurposed space adjoining the Country Store. Sauce notes the doughnuts had been a fall exclusive until then, and that they now come in boxes of six or stacked eight high on the Donut Tower. Order the Berry-Go-Round that Feast describes, a cider doughnut under frozen custard with sliced strawberries, whipped cream and sprinkles.
Liberty Apple Orchard · Edwardsville
Feast describes a young orchard near Edwardsville run by former New Yorkers Stephen and Lugene Miller, whose focus runs to educating youth groups and hosting an annual harvest event and 5K for the American Cancer Society. Feast counts a farm market carrying applesauce and apple butter made from Liberty's own apples. The cider doughnuts are a narrow window. Feast says they come out Saturday mornings only, so start a Saturday here and take cider home with them. The orchard picks 21 varieties from late August into November.
