Brothers Chris and George Limberakis, from Lefkada, opened this diner at 5011 South Boulevard in 1991 and have run it for more than thirty years. Gyros, chicken souvlaki and spanakopita come off a long menu, and the baklava is made fresh daily rather than pulled out of a case.

Amelia and Peyton Limberakis, children of The Mad Greek's owner, opened a modern Greek room at 1436 South Boulevard with a full bar and a Greek wine list. The gyro is the family recipe, served in a room built for a night out rather than a lunch you eat standing up.

A fast-casual room at 1514 South Church Street built around a sixty-inch horizontal souvla, grilling chicken, lamb and pork to order instead of shaving it off a standing cone. Pitas and gyro plates get assembled in front of you, and the South End room is the flagship of a small local group.

Brothers Imad and Ned Zeitouni have run this family counter at 3419 Toringdon Way since 2011, where the gyro sits on a deep Lebanese menu of shawarma, kafta and mezze. The sandwiches come out packed and dressed properly, and the room is plain enough that the food does all the talking.
