Mānoa Chocolate Café & Wine Bar · Kailua
Mānoa Chocolate's cacao-scented store in central Kailua is the heart of the bean-to-bar company Dylan Butterbaugh started in 2010 with a hand-cranked refiner, and the staff hand out free tastes of homegrown chocolate. The café side pours hot chocolate and chocolate milk for purists, mochas made with the house chocolate, and a Chocolate Cortado: espresso poured over bits of Mānoa milk chocolate, then finished with steamed milk into a small, intense drink. Order the Chocolate Cortado.
Lonohana Estate Chocolate Factory · Kakaʻako
Lonohana Estate Chocolate makes 100% Hawaiʻi-grown chocolate from owner Seneca Klassen's North Shore cacao grove, and its retail shop sits in the SALT at Our Kakaʻako complex, three blocks from the factory in the old Kewalo Theatre on Queen Street. The finished chocolates are flavored with local ingredients such as Molokaʻi ʻAlaea sea salt and Kaʻu coffee, and the lower-priced Onomea line runs to Matcha Crunch, Lime in the Coconut and Macadamia Nut Sea Salt. Order the Macadamia Nut Sea Salt.
Choco Le’a · Manoa
Choco le'a is a chocolate shop in Mānoa that makes truffles, sold a la carte or in custom boxes at the shop. Order a custom box of truffles.
