Woody Candy Company · Western Avenue
A candy maker founded in 1927 and run by the Jackson family since 2014, selling from its retail shop on NW 70th Street, where every nut is roasted on site. Peanut brittle is the main product, made in the original recipe and in pumpkin, maple, jalapeno and Hatch chile versions, beside chewy caramel pralines, toffee, fudge, sea salt almond clusters and turtles of large pecans and caramel dipped in chocolate. A portrait of founder Claude Woody Sr. hangs behind the register. Order the peanut brittle and a box of turtles.
SIYO Coffee and Cacao · Britton District
A veteran-owned bean-to-bar chocolate maker and coffee roaster in the historic Britton District, opened in 2019 as Zero Tolerance Coffee and Chocolate by Maura and Roy Baker, who taught themselves chocolate making from books, chemistry texts and trial and error. One roaster handles both the coffee and the cacao, and the cacao comes through Uncommon Cacao so the owners know the beans are ethically sourced. Chocolate bars sell alongside the coffee. Order a Foobar, craft chocolate wrapped around crispy, salty peanut butter.
Mollycoddled Hash Slinger · Mayfair
An Oklahoma City candy shop built on caramel cooked the old way, with heavy cream and sugar and very little corn syrup, so it comes out buttery and melts in the mouth. Everything is made by hand in small batches on site, starting with the salted whiskey caramel that launched the business, with apple, espresso and browned butter and honey caramels also on year-round. The case adds candied pecans, naked toffee, handmade marshmallows and a dye-free cotton candy. Order the salted whiskey caramels.
Apple Tree Chocolate · Downtown Norman
A downtown Norman chocolate shop built on its own made-from-scratch caramel and chocolate. The caramel apples come in a range of dipped chocolate combinations, and the case carries fudge, truffles and toffee alongside chocolate-covered pretzels and chocolate-dipped Oreos. Order a caramel apple, then a piece of fudge.
Stockyards Sarsaparilla · Stockyards City
A Stockyards City shop with the look and feel of an old-fashioned candy and soda shop, stocked with a wide selection of candies, specialty sodas and western-themed gifts. The chocolate draw is the homemade fudge, made in a long run of flavors. Order a slab of the house fudge and a bottle of soda to go with it.
