Lauretta Jean's · Richmond
A tiny pie shop on SE Division Street where lines form daily for airy, flaky-crusted pies. Founder Kate McMillen started it as a farmers market stand, and her crusts use only butter, never shortening, with ingredients kept very cold before baking and fillings sourced locally. Classics like bourbon pecan and Dutch apple sit beside seasonal specials and take-and-bake savory pies such as chicken pot pie. Order the salted honey on a first visit, then the bourbon pecan.
Banning's Restaurant & Pie House · Tigard
A family-owned diner and pie house on OR 99W in Tigard, open since 1979, with booths in a spacious, retro dining room and diner favorites like omelets, waffles and burgers. A common finale is a slice from the rotating pie displays, sweet and classic: fluffy banana cream, a hearty Dutch apple and the Elvis, a peanut butter, banana and chocolate pie. Order the banana cream.
Mehri's Cafe and Bakery · Woodstock
A Woodstock cafe that is one part diner and one part bakery, baking old-fashioned pies beside its cakes: peach, sweet potato, banana cream and a vegetarian mincemeat of apple and dried fruit. Less common flavors include blue gooseberry, apple and marionberry, and the Blue Goose of gooseberry and blueberry, while the strawberry rhubarb balances bitter rhubarb against sweet strawberry. Personal five-inch pies are baked daily to eat in or take home. Order the Blue Goose.
Bipartisan Cafe · Montavilla
A homey, busy Montavilla cafe that serves fruit and cream pies to the neighborhood, with panini and coffee for a working lunch. The pies stay homestyle: marionberry and apple under uneven, hand-shaped crusts that bake up golden and flaky, and banana cream stacked high with whipped cream. Whole pies are usually on hand to carry out. Order a slice of marionberry to finish lunch.
Caffe Destino · Sabin
A small Sabin coffee shop that doubles as a bakery for its pies, all baked daily, to eat by the slice with coffee or take home whole. Juicy Oregon berry and a dense butterscotch share the case with the key lime: a thick, buttery graham cracker crust under a creamy, bright filling and a sweet-tart meringue, topped with whipped cream, lime slices and zest. Order the key lime.
