Urban Chestnut Midtown Brewery and Biergarten · The Grove / Midtown
The Midtown brewery opened its Bavarian biergarten in 2012. Long communal tables sit under umbrellas beside a beer window, with the white stucco Central States building as a backdrop. The yard has hosted outdoor movies and polka; take a bench with a half liter of beer.
Rockwell Beer Garden · St. Louis Hills
Rockwell opened this beer garden inside Francis Park in 2021, converting a 1920s stone comfort station. A patio wraps the building with firepits, heaters and fans. Order the naturally leavened tavern-style pizza at a table among the park's trees.
Civil Life Brewing Co. · Tower Grove South
Long picnic tables fill the Tower Grove South brewery's biergarten, with flags of beer-making countries overhead and two outdoor service windows. Board games and books are part of the space. Order the English Pale Ale, sometimes poured from a cask, and take a bench.
The Royale Food & Spirits · South City
Steven Fitzpatrick Smith opened The Royale in 2005 near Tower Grove Park. Its outdoor biergarten gathers drinkers around a beer list weighted toward local brewers, with shade in summer and fires in winter. Schlafly Vanilla Milk Stout has been poured here and at Schlafly.
Anheuser-Busch Biergarten · Soulard
Anheuser-Busch opened this biergarten at its brewery and tour center in August 2013. The large outdoor space has communal tables and a menu of snacks, skewers and brats. Order a tasting flight.
