Kansas City Magazine dates this Waldo brewery to 2014 and describes traditional German style brews, an indoor taproom and an outdoor Biergarten built for families and celebrations. In 2025 the magazine reported the brewery breaking ground on a second site in Lenexa, a two acre plot with a large Bierhalle, covered patio and biergarten, while the Waldo brewery and taproom stay open unchanged and keep all retail production. The Pitch relays Food & Wine naming Grunauer's outdoor space one of America's best beer gardens, and quotes the magazine calling it a hugely popular beer hall in Greater Downtown with a largely German draft list and excellent Austrian bottles on the wine side. Kansas City Magazine places the ornate dining room inside the Crossroads Freight House and points to refined versions of Austrian and German classics.
