Kohnami · Guadalupe St
A long-standing Japanese restaurant on South Guadalupe Street that became one of Santa Fe's sushi anchors after Shohko Cafe closed. The Santa Fe New Mexican's 'Getting fresh: Eating fish in the 505' roundup covered its salmon-skin roll and the overall quality of the fish. Order the thick-cut sashimi, the namesake Kohnami roll of eel and shrimp tempura, or the Cherry Blossom roll. A quiet neighborhood sushi bar near the Railyard.
Izanami Restaurant · Hyde Park Road
The upscale izakaya at the Ten Thousand Waves hot-springs resort also runs one of the city's more serious sushi programs, paired with a premium Japanese sake selection. The Santa Fe Reporter's Top 10 feature praised its pristine sushi. Order the omakase chef's choice, or build a plate from the ahi tuna sashimi and the avocado-daikon roll. Sushi and sashimi service runs Wednesday through Saturday up on Hyde Park Road.
