Santa Fe Bite carries on the Bobcat Bite tradition on St. Michael's Drive, where it moved in October 2019. Longtime employees Angela Mason and Armando Rivas took it over from John and Bonnie Eckre in 2023, with the Eckres staying on, and the signature green chile cheeseburger, perfected over some 20 years by John Eckre and Rivas, remains the reason to go; Rivas's menu also runs to tacos, enchiladas and flautas. The Burger Stand is chef and cookbook author Robert Krause's burger-dedicated counter on San Francisco Street downtown, with a sister location in Taos. You order at the counter and sit where you can, choosing from a smash burger with onions, a classic green chile burger, a smoky burger with gouda and applewood-smoked bacon or a Kobe burger with truffle butter, with fries alongside. Shake Foundation, on Cerrillos Road, runs on the motto 'Dedicated to the preservation of the original green chile cheeseburger', and its burgers draw on founder Brian Knox's boyhood memories of Milwaukee's butter-slathered cheeseburgers.
